Taxi, Train, Bus, Van, Songthaew, Longtail Boat...BEACHIN' IT!

Hello from Krabi! We are currently in the southern part of Thailand, enjoying the beaches! Here is a little update of the past few days.

On Tuesday we said goodbye to Bangkok for two weeks! Here is the apartment we rented for a few days for my family to stay in. Kerry, Liz, and Dustin are saying HELLO from their 7th floor balcony!

On Tuesday, we took an overnight train down to Krabi. The train ride was about 13 hours. We got 2nd class tickets, which means the train was air conditioned, and we each got our own little cot to sleep on.

On the train. We sat and hung out for about an hour before they converted our seats into bunk beds with a privacy curtain.

Dustin in his seat.

We sat right beside the bathroom. At first we were worried it would smell, but it was quite pleasant! The staff did an excellent job of keeping it clean, and it was very convenient!

Toilet option #2
Both toilets drain directly on to the train tracks. Kind of gross.

After our journey on the train, we had to take a bus for about 4 hours.

We made it! Home sweet home for four nights.
Aonang Beach, Krabi.

The morning after we arrived, we went to Railay Beach...one of my most favourite places on Earth.
First we took a short songthaew (a truck with seats in the box) ride to a pier, and then got on a longtail boat (a long, narrow wooden boat) to go to the beach. It was about a 15 minute boat ride out to Railay.

Approaching Railay.
A soccer game right on the beach.

Checking out some caves and cool rock formations on our way to the beach.

Railay Beach!!
I've been here a few times, so it was a stress-free day of showing my family around.

Fun in the sun.

Kerry, Dustin and Leta swam to the little island across from the beach. Liz chose to sunbathe instead.

The water is very warm!
A bit nicer than Good Spirit, hey Jenny?

Saw some monkeys!

Lunch break. So happy about their food!

Can you tell who the photographer for the day was?!

More monkeys.

Kerry, Dustin, and Leta did a hike up to a view point.

A bit dirty after the hike.

The Perepeluks love Thailand!

Enjoying some pizza after our first beach day!
Today, we spent the morning/afternoon exploring another beach. Photos to come soon, time for some shopping! Thanks for all the comments and emails. We love hearing from you.

  1. great pictures!!! We wish we were there . It looks like a great place to explore and the food looks good. Ryan & Jenny were over tonight and they were going to see Wandy & Zig. We just might drive down to the lake after golfing tomorrow if the weather holds out. Love from the group
